State-of-the-art day surgery comes to Beacon Business Park in Stafford


Ramsay Health Care has chosen Beacon Business Park to be the location of the first standalone day case facility in Stafford. Staffordshire Day Surgery will expand on the services already offered at the nearby Rowley Hall Hospital when it opens in May 2020.

Building work on the site started earlier this month, with an official ground-breaking ceremony attended by Dr Andy Jones, CEO of Ramsay Health Care UK who commented:

‘I am delighted that we are able to support the local health community in Stafford with this development. Our team will be able to continue to provide great care to our patients in a day case model. The support in our investment of this facility from the local NHS Trust has been fantastic and its partnership with Ramsay in the interests of the local communities we serve.’

The day surgery facility will provide services for private, insured and NHS patients within the local community and further afield. The new facility will include a theatre and recovery area, six day-patient pods, three outpatient consulting rooms, two pre-assessment rooms and a minor treatment room offering treatment for pain management, urology, endoscopy and ophthalmology (eye care).

This major development will also create new employment opportunities, with approximately 23 vacancies in nursing, nursing support, clinical, administration and support services, with many opportunities for training and professional development.

Lisa Powell, Hospital Director at Rowley Hall Hospital will initially oversee the management of the new facility and believes that it will not only meet the communities’ high demand for its services but also become a community hub.

‘Not only will this bring new jobs to the area, it will also build on Rowley Hall Hospital’s clinical reputation to continue to provide high quality care for the people of Staffordshire,’ says Lisa.

Beacon Business Park is delighted to welcome the new facility, which expands on the wide range of businesses and services already on offer. The business park is currently home to international manufacturing industries, small business trading units, a Co-op convenience store, Costa DriveThru, The Knot & Plough Public House and has a Marston’s Lodge on the way.

ISE Estates & Trading is a consortium of 3 Stafford-based businesses which came together in 2004 to purchase and develop the redundant 22-acre RAF Site 3.  Since acquisition the site is fully let and over 300 jobs have been created.

A further 50 acres on Beacon Business Park Growth Point was granted planning permission in 2012 for:

  • 11,000 sqm  B1 Office
  • 33,000 sqm B1 Light industrial
  • 16,500 sqm B2 General industrial
  • 11,000 sqm Warehouse
  • 3,000 sqm Mixed A3, A4, C1 and D1.

In May 2013, a grant of £1,7 million was awarded by the Growing Local Pinch Point Fund” to construct the new roundabout on Weston Road / Blackheath lane and open up access to the new development land.
